No Instructions?

Okay, I'm not as software savvy as I would like to be, but I'm sure there's something I'm missing.

My main problem: How do I even install Trotmania?

I've been going through the download page, help page, about page, the forum, everywhere, and there are no clear instructions on how to actually get the things installed and working like they should. Am I missing something here? I hate to risk sounding rude, but nothing on here seems to be very user friendly. There's so many download links, but no instructions on what I should expect when I do something.

(I would even go as far to say Stepmania 5 itself is incredibly inaccessible to me. There are so many buttons and options and modes and more options everywhere I have no idea what I'm doing. But that is a story for another day. Congrats to those who get that reference.)

With no proper instructions of a step-by-step for installing and implimenting Trotmania and all its songs and courses, I'm at a loss. All I have to go off of is a general 'Do this general thing with this general thing.', with no visual feedback or detail into what I should actually be seeing. Some screenshots or something would be amazingly helpful.

My current progress: I installed 'Stepmania 5.0.11' , 'Downfall Songs and Courses' , 'Trotmania 3 Noteskins 1.1' , 'TrotMania_Chrystalize_POTYEdition_SongsOnly' , and 'TrotMania_III_Night1_SongsOnly'. I place them appropriately into the program folders 'Songs' , 'Courses' , 'Noteskins' , and 'Themes'. I load up Stepmania through the program files, and I see no changes, no where to impliment anything, none of the songs, nothing. Everything is still the standard 3 song Stepmania 5. Half the time Stepmania doesn't seem to work at all, only showing 'Roulette' when I try to select a song. Dunno what that's about.

Apologies that I'm likely being a dumby, but I can't figure this out for the life of me. Any help is appreciated.

I knew a post like this would eventually happen.

For some reason, RIME (our packager) has not done a self-contained version of TM3 that, much like we did for previous versions, would have contained a single ZIP with everything (including SM itself) included.

There is a StepMania 5 beginner guide that explains everything, but I plan on finally getting around to writing a TM-specific guide soon.

For songs to load, the directory structure of the song folder has to be correct. It has to be something like (SM Install Directory)/Songs/TrotMania Chrystalize/Afterlife (Aviators Remix). SM assumes a two level-directory structure within the Songs folder, with folders for each song in a folder for each Group,

To change themes, you have to go to Options > Display Options > Appearance Options

Also, in case if you did everything as Lirodon described, but still get the built-in songs, you'll need to refresh the song/course list.

To do this, go to the main Options screen (which is either Accessed from the Main menu, both from the default theme, and the Trotmania 3 theme (if on Home coinmode, which at first installation, you should be), or by pressing the service button, by default, mapped to the Scroll Lock key.)

Inside the main Options screen, there is an option called "Refresh Song/Course list", then the game will now reload every installed song and courses, including the new ones, provided you followed the correct installation method.

Also, to avoid the need to use the refresh feature in the future, turn off Fast Load from the Advanced Options, a submenu from the main Options screen. This way, everytime you launch the game, the game will look for any changed or new songs and courses. (Only disadvantage is slightly slower load time, depending on the number of songs you have installed, and the speed of your storage where your Stepmania 5 installation is located)
